Camille Marti and Loren Stacks Obituary Beaumont, Texas: Family and friends mourn the loss of two killed in DUI crash on U.S. 69 near the 534-mile marker

The identities of the two people who perished in a horrific collision on Friday morning after being hit by a suspected drunk driver have been made public.

According to Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett, Beaumont residents Loren Icenhower, 25, and Camille Marti, 21, both passed away at the scene on U.S. 69 close to the 534-mile marker.


He stated the women’s identities were known to family members.

An investigation is underway by the Texas Department of Public Safety into the crash that happened at around 1:44 in the morning.

According to the preliminary inquiry, the occupants of another car were killed when a Chevrolet pickup truck heading south in the northbound lane collided with it head-on.

According to DPS statistics, the driver of the Chevrolet, 51-year-old Salvador Gamez of Brownsville, was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently being charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter, a felony.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports that Gamez remained hospitalized on Friday afternoon, therefore no bond has been set.

According to its Facebook page, the Jefferson County Water District No. 10 Volunteer Fire Department was one of the responding organizations.

When firefighters discovered two entrapped, burning vehicles, they called in mutual aid from the Nederland Fire Department.

Throughout the investigation, firefighters were on the scene for four hours until the road was cleared.
