Kellyann Gemmell Obituary: 52-year-old Minersville woman killed in Thursday crash on Route 422 in Exeter Township

According to authorities on Thursday, a tractor-trailer on Route 422 in Exeter Township rear-ended an automobile belonging to a woman from Schuylkill County, killing her.

A member of the Berks County coroner’s office declared Kellyann Gemmell, 52, of Minersville deceased at the site of the collision, according to Exeter police.

The collision happened in Exeter Township near Daniel Boone Road in the westbound lanes of Route 422, also known as the Benjamin Franklin Highway, at approximately 1:40 p.m.

While police conducted their investigation, the westbound lanes between Route 345 and Daniel Boone Road were closed for more than four hours.

According to Lt. Sean Fullerton, the initial inquiry revealed that the 18-wheeler rear-ended the automobile while it was stopped at a red signal at Daniel Boone Road.

According to him, one of the car’s passengers received treatment for unidentified injuries at Reading Hospital.

Since the inquiry is still underway, the truck driver’s identity has been kept secret by the police. Gemmell was the twenty-first individual to pass away in car accidents on Berks roads this year.
