Ramon Goux Obituary: Elkins Police Officer Ramon Goux Dies by Suicide

Elkins Police Officer Ramon Goux took his own life, and the Elkins community is in deep sorrow. In a poignant statement, the Elkins Police Department announced his passing and offered their sincere sympathies to his friends, family, and coworkers. The horrific news of the incident, which happened on Route 33 East outside of Elkins, has the police department and the community in disarray.

Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report about a suspicious car on Route 33 East on Friday at around 11:30 a.m. The caller stated that it looked like the car window was blasted out. Officer Ramon Goux was found wounded by a gunshot inside the car by the deputies when they arrived. Sadly, he did not make it.

In a public statement, the Elkins Police Department confirmed Officer Goux’s passing and expressed their deepest sympathies. The text of the statement said:

“One of our policemen committed suicide yesterday, causing a heartbreaking loss to the Elkins Police Department. My sincere sympathies are extended to Patrolman First Class Ramon Goux’s family, friends, and loved ones.

To Ramon’s family: We are grateful that you helped shape who he was and that you allowed us to have him. Having him as a member of our department family has made all of us better people and cops. Additionally, be aware that our department is always there to help and stand by you.

To the Elkins Police Department officers: Over the years, we have experienced a great deal together. Together, we have faith that we will overcome this as well. By relying on, encouraging, and looking out for one another, we can get through it together.

I would want to express my sincere gratitude to the people of Elkins and the surrounding areas for their unwavering love and support. Serving and defending you is a joy and an honor.
