Richard Miller Obituary News: Resident of Goshen and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County Passes Away

Richard Miller, a resident of Goshen, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old at the time of his death. He was announced dead through a social media statement by Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County that read, “We are deeply saddened to share that Richard Miller, former Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County, passed away last night.”

Who was Richard Miller?

Raymond and Edna Miller welcomed Richard Ray Miller into the world on May 24, 1947, in Goshen. On November 22, 1973, he wed Kathy (Yoder) Miller in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Richard was a developer and home builder who held a number of positions, including Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County and Owner of Richard Miller Construction.

He was a member of the Home Builders Association and the Elkhart County Chapter President for two terms. In Elkhart County, he was named the 2012 Builder of the Year. Throughout his career, he led charitable organizations and served on a number of nonprofit boards. Richard belonged to the Mennonite Church of Waterford.

Richard had a strong interest in building homes, and his skills in this field will benefit the people in the neighborhood for many years to come. There were no strangers for Richard. He enjoyed interacting with people, going to local athletic events, particularly those involving his kids and grandkids, and playing a lot of midday hoops at Goshen College.
