Suicide Prevention Walk

On Friday, April 26, the University of Arkansas in Little Rock held a suicide prevention walk as part of its ongoing efforts to combat the scourge of suicide. Start the pre-walk activities early in front of Ottenheimer Library at 11 a.m. with free brunch, therapy dogs, drum circle, live music, bounce house, giveaways, and motivational speakers. At 1:00 p.m., Chancellor Christina Drale led the suicide prevention walk, which circled the campus once.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention estimates that 1,100 college students commit suicide each year. Suicide ranks as the 10th most common cause of death in Arkansas and the third most common cause of death among people between the ages of 15 and 24.
